Marisa Malone

I grew up in Pittsburg and Antioch, where I first picked up a volleyball in 2006. Throughout middle school, high school, and club volleyball, I played multiple positions including Setter, Libero, Opposite, and ultimately finished as an Outside Hitter. I graduated from Deer Valley High School in 2012 as Team Captain and was honored as First Team All-League and League MVP.

In addition to volleyball, I began martial arts at four years old, earning my black belt at the age of 16. After earning my black belt, I began teaching students ranging from 3 years old to adults. Teaching students of all ages taught me how to adapt my coaching style to meet individual needs, helping each student learn and gain confidence in their abilities.

In 2013, I moved away from the Bay Area and spent the next 12 years living in Hawaii, South Carolina, and San Diego before returning home in 2025. No matter where I lived, I found opportunities to stay involved in volleyball, both indoors and on the beach, which helped me continue developing my volleyball IQ.

My coaching style is rooted in discipline and mental toughness. I believe the lessons learned through sports extend far beyond the court. I challenge my athletes to develop resilience in the face of setbacks while creating an environment centered around developing strong skills and growing both on and off the court. I believe that every athlete learns differently, and I strive to help each player reach their full potential while fostering a lifelong love of the game.
